View from Electric Chair Gurston Down May 2007 After a nice dry practice on Saturday, the race day on Sunday was sadly abandoned after the first qualifying runs. This meant that that fastest time of the day went to Roger Moran. Scott Moran unfortunately failed to make the cut for the run off as he got caught in a wet track. Martin Groves also failed to make the cut with a spin at Hollow Bend. This meant that it was very good that it got abandoned because the championship positions remain the same as they were after Harewood. It was not a good weekend for the Guilles with their ex-Trevor Willis 2 litre OMS. Chris had a big off in Saturday practice at Hollow bend and took off the two front wheels. But after a lot of work rebuilding the car for race day, he went off again on the first qualifying run. Ed Hollier had a good weekend with his new blue sport libre OMS, breaking the class record unofficially in practice on Saturday. He qualified a really good third fastest in the wet for the run off that never happened. The twelve fastest cars for the wet run
off were:-
Mike Endean was out once again with his Puma Gould. If he had gone a little bit faster he would qualified for the run off. Nick Mann made a rare appearance in his unique Manic Beattie and after a good run in practice on Saturday. H could not take part at all on Sunday as he only one set of slick tyres. Thank you to Owen team for making a big effort to give us somewhere to shelter from the rain. The new OMS wasn't there again but Bob is hoping to race it at Loton. It is coke red. Neither was Jos Goodyear's new Pilbeam. My chair is broken yet again after I drove through a puddle that was very deep. The motor now also blown up. Hopefully it can be fixed quite quickly. See you at Shelsley on June 2nd & 3rd. Bye Nick |
