View from the Electric Chair 2007   Loton Test Weekend 24th MArch

It was really good to have the Loton test weekend in cold but dry conditions so everyone there could get the full benefit of seeing how quick their cars are and what adjustments they will need to do for the Easter meeting.

Jim Gazey had a go in his unique Smart car on Sunday.  He shared it with Graeme Loakes who is normally on a Subaru Imprezza.

Robert Kendrick had his first outing with the newly acquired Force which is his usual colour of blue.  It looked like it was a bit tricky for him to get the hang of.

Both the Morans were there having a go in their Gould and seemed to going very well.  Chris Merrick was there in the ex-Roy Lane Gould and also went well.  Basil Pitt was there with the new 2.85 engine in his Gould.  He also had a solid weekend.  The other top 12 runner was Simon Durling who had a good weekend until he had a slight off at Loggerheads on Sunday and took off the front wing.  That will be bit of work for Force boss Ian Dayson this week!  One absentee was Twin Turbo Toet, due to engine problems.

The first Ian Dayson built Force was out this weekend and it is quick.

Dave Wilson’s son is out this year in a Peugeot 106.  Will he be as good as Dave?

Mike Dean has decided to sit out the whole of this season.  Hope to see the Moose next year, we missed you.

And now for some news with thanks to Marlene

John Waggitt will be out in the ex Turnbull/Wishart Gould GR37 with updated bodywork and I bet it will be green.  Brian and Simon Moyse will make a return to the hills this year in the first 2 litre Gould, which will have a supercharged Hyabusa bike engine.  It will be really good when Simon gets the hang of driving it.  Deryk Young will be out with wife Sue at most events.  Will she be as quick as she is at Shelsley?  Graeme Wight Jnr. will miss the Easter Loton and he may also miss the May Prescott.  The car which was going to come back with the old V6 is now going to have the Arrows V10 again.  Hope he gets on better this year.

Tony Hunt will out at Easter in his supercharged Force again and he will be sharing it with ex-Force boss Bill Chaplin.  Tony should watch out!

The horrible whinging, noisy, supercharged ex-works Pilbeam will be out again this year with owner John Jones and new co-driver Phil Derbyshire.  I wonder how they will fare?

I will be out at the Gurston Test Day next Sunday and then back to Loton on Easter Sunday and Monday.

Bye Nick.
