Prescott r3 and r4
Well where to start and after a weekend spent at Gould's straight after Loton
the moose mobile was well on its way back together with new body work being
made etc. Big thanks to big paws for assistance that weekend for without that
car would not possibly be ready as it was we only just made it.
Friday all day and most of night spent at Gould factory finishing off rebuild
although not painted almost everything back to 100 percent. A HUGE BIG THANK
YOU to Tony marsh for the loan of his steering rack as we were let done by
suppliers at last minute (not to happy about that) so an emergency dash to
Tony's on Friday night to remove his rack and fit to moose mobile. Big thanks
to Sean Gould for a extremely late night on Friday we didn't finish car and
Load till 2 o'clock sat morning ,didn't arrive at Prescott till gone 4 sat
morning.
Sat practice
Moose crew as follows only Muppet ,G string sick and mark busy building so
this would be quite a hectic weekend as running one of these cars is not
possible without help. Moose prides himself on being organised but with
arriving late and lorry still not sorted from Loton accident when everything
was chucked in back of lorry just finding anything was a task in its self. We
found ourselves being under pressure just finishing off last little jobs and
miss our scruitineering slot. So when our batch is ready to run we are not
ready so we run out of order.
1st practice moose anxious to get run under our belts and make sure car is
okay, car felt fine exempt car jumped out of 3rd gear - which would require
gear cluster removing and a gear change with this being a 2hr job at best of
times thanx to Simons mechanic Ian (tea lady's dad) and big paws we are once
again up against it time wise and have to miss out on lunch to be ready for
afternoon runs ,track is very slippery although dry and Grovesy has a rare
off .so moose is very cautious and although running on track we are just not
up to speed, and when the heavens open for last practice we just finalise gear
flat shift settings in prep for Sunday.
Sun
1st timed run we fit our first set of new tyres for the season (really as
a confidence booster for moose as he really needs it )still finding track
slippery and not really back in the groove we qualify 7th this is a big relief
for moose.
Run off r3
We rush to get car ready (thanx webbo) and way too much revs in first as
we leave line the moose mobile lays rubber road and weaves away under bridge
moose fighting to hang on (this is not super smooth moose we know) we post a
39.60 and finish 7th which in circumstances is not bad although track is
slippery no excuses we are just not up to speed yet.
2nd timed run
We equal Rob Turnbulls time and qualify equal 6th (which means 7th )
Run off we post fastest speed on Prescotts trap of 109 mph and post a time
of 39.35 not really on the pace but we get a 4th place so to say we are not up
to speed yet we get 11 pts from weekend
To gives a total of 12 and 6th place in championship we are off the mark but
we need to raise the game and get back into the groove ASAP if we are to pose
a championship threat.
As soon as the meeting is finished the car is stripped ready for the body work
to be painted (it will be good to have car back in its colours again).
Next meetings Barbon on 13th may and Harewood on 14th may so with 2 one day
meetings this will be a tough challenge. NO REST FOR THE WICKED, or much
sleep but when going gets touch moose gets going so watch this space.
