Sorry
we missed Doune but I had to stay down in sunny England because it was the
summer fete at my college. I hope you all had a really good time in the wet.
How you guys like doing it week in week out especially going all the way up
there because all it ever does is pour with rain.
I had a really good weekend at college doing my radio
show. I went down to Alton, which is the town my college called Treloar is
in. There were lots of red and blue Ferraris, which were giving students from
the college and the general public rides, but I declined because I had a go in
Mike Sidgwick’s brand new Pilbeam MP92 sports racing car which you can’t beat.
What
I found so funny about it all, like my dad, was that the poshest Ferrari F40
which as my dad says is one that has an engine like a Ferrari F1 car broke
down. The reason for this is I think is they were lifting someone into for a
ride and the person’s foot caught a wire that it means that without this wire
the engine wouldn’t run.
To the hillclimb. Well done the Moran team what I said to
you Roger must have helped. Keep it up!! If you don’t, the most embarrassing
thing may happen, which is Trevor Willis in the under rated OMS Powertec may
start beating you. Steve and Lynn Owen will be pleased with that! It was
really sad but good for some people to see Mr yucky yellow Groves slip up.
Please
don’t do this too often Martin otherwise young Moran and not dad Moran will beat
you and maybe even take you to last Doune and win it. Sad to see Basil Pitt
didn’t go – was he too scared to go which I don’t blame you. He won the local
rounds at the Gurston club event on the same weekend – well done Baz.
Another bad weekend for our good old friends the Mason
boys.
Dave and Joy must have done their usual about 3rd
in class at best because I haven’t heard the excitement of beating Alan Nichol.
Well done Joy for persuading Dave to allow you to drive the car – did you enjoy
it? I hope you enjoy Harewood.
Well done to Shelsley Walsh top of hill resident Simon
Durling for yet another solid result.
Can’t be at Harewood either because this Friday we are all
going up to Lairg to my grandparent’s golden wedding anniversary party are we
mad or what?? Nor are we going to the Channel Islands – the reason for this is
we can’t afford it or say dad says. So that means we have only got three more
climbs to do this year that I will be at which are Wiscombe, which I think I
have persuaded mum to come along to, Gurston and Prescott.
That’s it for this report but I have included some photos
in this report for the first time to show you what I got up to on the Doune
weekend and what the weather was really like.
Bye Fungus
