Electric Review 2006

Well Nick did really well throughout last year with his highly insightful reports. At times I wish I had had editorial rights, but all of the Hill climb views passed by me without modification (almost). The latest from Nick, with his detective comments, I would have changed a bit....

So here is his seasons sum up. - Richard

Review of the year from the electric chair.

This year was my first ever time of going to the Awards dinner dance evening and I thought it was very nice seeing so many people there that I knew. I thought that Richard Dunn looked like Poirot and they both speak funny. Scott Moran had so many different Awards he must have needed a lorry to take them all home.

2006 was a year that lots of people thought that Martin Groves would have an easy win but Scottie had other ideas. Their co drivers also had a good year. Simon had his best season for many years and also his first ever run off wins.

Deano had a tough year with a couple of offs but he did well to finish fifth. Boycie had a good first year in the car on his own despite having a big off at the Easter Loton. Rob had a good season despite have a big off at Wiscombe that meant he missed the end of the season. Some how he still finished eighth.

Deryk Young in his second season in the ex- Wight Jnr Gould had a really consistent year with getting points at most events.  Despite missing a few rounds he still managed to finish 9th.

Tom New also had a very good season with his now self run Pilbeam.  This meant he managed to show what the car was really capable of winning the Power-Mec Leaders Championship and finishing in a brilliant 10t place in the British Championship. Well done Tom.

Basil Pitt had really good first season in his new Gould NME with just missing out on a number. He still managed to win the Y Gelli award.  He also contested a lot more of the British rounds than he has in previous years.  Hope that he is going to do as many of the British rounds this year as last.

Trevor Willis had a late start to the year because his new OMS V8 wasn’t ready to race until the May Gurston.  After a few meeting he managed to qualify the car for run offs and managed to finish quite high in the Championship.

Willem Toet had a quiet year with his new twin turbo indy car engine in the back of his Pilbeam. After a couple of rounds he decided to pull out of the Championship full time so he could concentrate on getting the BMW Sauber to do well, and it did.

Graeme Jnr only did the September Doune with his Hillman Imp and I think it was a bit of fun.  Jos Goodyear had a good year with the turbo charged Pilbeam getting into a lot of run offs and getting a few points.

It was a frustrating year for Tim and Will Mason with not managing to qualify the car for many run offs.  Tim had a lucky escape after the car went up the bank at Hollow Bend and rolled over a few times, which meant it was out of action for the June Shelsley.

I had a busy year spectating but did not manage to do the July Harewood, both the Dounes, Jersey and Ireland.

And for 2007!!

It is going to be an another good year with some exciting prospects.

Will Robert Kendrick do as well as he did in his Caterham in his newly acquired ex Phil Cooke Force?  I bet it will be blue.

Graeme Jnr will at last be returning with the Predator after a year out.  Instead of the V10 he will be running his original V6 engine from his Gould.  How will that go?  Be careful at the first corner at Doune!

Willem Toet will be out once again with the twin turbo charged Pilbeam at selected events. Hope it goes better this year and keep it on the track Willem.

Jos Goodyear will be out in a new Pilbeam MP88 Judd.

Matt Harrison is moving up to single with the ex Geoff Rollason Pilbeam .

Ian Dayson will have a busy year with his new job as the boss of Force Racing Cars and looking after Simon’s Gould.

Mike Endean is due to make return to the hills with his Puma Gould.

I am doing all rounds this year for the first time and we have already booked up ferries and hotels for them all.

And finally my predictions for this year :-

1                Scott Moran

2                Martin Groves

3                Simon Durling

4                Roger Moran

5                Paul Ransom

6                Mike Dean

7                Chris Merrick

8                Graeme Wight Jnr

9                Trevor Willis

10            Basil Pitt

Good luck to everyone and see you all at Loton.

Nick
